Athlete Eugene Vollmer has broken a National Record while competing at the NAIA Indoor National Championships in USA.

Vollmer competed in the Triple Jump and finished in a tie for second with a jump of 15.54 metres.

The jump was impressive because Vollmer had been injured for the last 4 weeks with a bad hamstring and had not been able to compete or even practice.

His mark of 15.54 is a new Fiji National Record and places him second on the Fresno Pacific University all-time list in USA.

Meanwhile Milika Tuivanuavou is also in USA with Vollmer on a scholarship.

She took part in the shot put and was placed 5th with a throw of 14.19 metres.

Tuivanuavou also qualified for the National Championships in the 60 metre hurdles and pentathlon.
