Suva Lord Mayor Ratu Peni Volavola said the SCC will be responding to Interim Local Government Minister Lekh Ram Veyshnoi early this week, after Vayeshnoi wrote a letter to the SCC ordering them to clean up Suva within 30 days.
Ratu Peni Volavola told Village News that a letter of response has been drafted and will be delivered to the interim minister with some of the concerns of the council that the interim government can look into.
He said more than $17 million dollars in rates are owed by the ratepayers of Suva to SCC adding that this is the main reason why they cannot fulfill some of the major projects and developments like the clean-up of the city and road upgrading.
