The Lord Mayor of Suva has been inducted into the Order of Mayors United in Friendship for Jerusalem.
Ratu Peni Volavola, who recently returned from the 26th Jerusalem Conference of Mayors of the World in Israel where he was given the honour, said he is humbled by this recognition.
Volavola was the only Mayor from the Pacific, including Australia and New Zealand that received this honour.
Since 1980, Mayors from all over the world have met to focus on vital issues which are common to all cities and to exchange knowledge and strategies which of them has developed.
