The mobile phone competition continues.

Today one of the leading mobile phone companies in the country, Vodafone Fiji Limited said the new rates announced by its competitor has not affected them as business is usual for them.

Vodafone's Manager Corporate Affairs, Shailendra Prasad said the new rates announced by Digicel Fiji is not something new, as Vodafone had already offered 5 cents per unit calls and txt to its customers in March last year, and rates even as low as 3 cents per unit to its My Gang customers.

Vodafone's comments come after Digicel announced their new rate of five cents a unit for all their customers.

Digicel Fiji's New Chief Executive, Matt Davey said the new rate was introduced, as there are alot of promotions in the telecommunications market and they decided to have a special standard rate for their customers.

Under the new Digicel prepaid rates, customers will see prices for calls and text messaging at an all time rate of five cents.

This will see Digicel users, paying only five cents for every 30 seconds they spend on the phone and 5 cents for a text message.
Davey adds that this promotion would be a huge benefit to the public as the promotion would last indefinitely.
