Vodafone aware of network problems
Several Vodafone users have told Fijivillage of the problems they face in making calls from Vodafone to Vodafone mobiles and to land lines.
After enquiring with numerous other Vodafone users who say they have also encountered problems such as calls unable to be connected unless numerous attempts are made, calls go straight into message saying the mobile is switched off or diverted when it is not, users unable to connect to a Vodafone mobile in certain areas, for instance calls get cut off between transmitter locations as indicated on the screen of the mobile phones, for example, if someone is travelling from Nabua to Laucala Beach, the line gets cut off in between.
Vodafone said it is aware of these problems and immediate steps are being taken to rectify the situation.
It said the problems are caused by very high call volumes in a localised area; one of the most heavily populated areas of Suva.
Vodafone said only two weeks ago they increased capacity to a base station in the Suva area.
Vodafone said it is also increasing capacity on neighbouring base stations in order to share the load, and are utilising other means to carry the traffic that is inevitable in an area as densely populated as Suva and surrounding areas.
