As damage assessments are now underway to find out the true extent of damage in the Northern and Eastern division, Vodafone ATH Fiji Foundation has launched the Vodafone Red Alert to assist the victims of Hurricane Tomas.
Vodafone ATH Fiji Foundation Executive, Ambalika Kutty said the Red Alert which is run in all countries where Vodafone exists was supposed to be launched on April 1st, however they decided to launch it today due to the devastating effects of Tomas earlier this week.
Kutty said Vodafone ATH Fiji Foundation has already made a donation of 10 thousand dollars and Vodafone NZ has also made a donation of 10 thousand NZ dollars to the Red Alert program.
The program will run until the 27th of April and people can choose to contribute towards basic needs, emergency social services or education assistance.
Kutty said the decision will then be made on how the funds are distributed.
Kutty said all the collections would be made public to ensure that people are informed about the amount of money collected and how it will be distributed.
