Vodafone Fiji given time until 15th Nov
Commerce Commission Chairman, Doctor Mahendra Reddy confirmed that Vodafone Fiji was notified about the investigation in late September and they requested time to provide the necessary information.
He said this investigation will also send warnings to all the other industries that the Commission is vigilant in monitoring the anti-competitive behaviour of certain businesses.
Vodafone Fiji Chief Executive, Aslam Khan said they are assisting Commerce Commission in the investigation and are awaiting the outcome.
Doctor Reddy earlier said that the commission has reason to believe that Vodafone may have engaged in unfair and undesirable trade practices in the telecommunication sector during the period leading up to the Fiji launch of the new mobile operator, Digicel Fiji Limited on October 1st last year.
Doctor Reddy said such practices appear to be continuing and, regardless, are impacting on consumers and competitors today.
