This clearly shows that with investment in our local people, we can deliver world class results.
Those were the words of interim Attorney General and Communications Minister Aiyaz Sayed-Khaiyum while launching Vodafone Fiji's 3G Network at the Fiji Museum last night which will allow for the much talked about video calling service.
Sayed-Khaiyum said the launch is a milestone not only for Vodafone but for Fiji as we are the first to launch the service in the Pacific.
He said one of the key objectives of interim Prime Minister Commodore Frank Bainimarama's government is to liberalize the economy with the view to, amongst other things, improve accessibility to infrastructure which includes telecommunications.
Sayed-Khaiyum said Vodafone's commitment is a mark of confidence in government's policies, where over $200 million had been invested in this sector over the last 18 months alone which had created employment opportunities and provided stimulus for the economy.
