There are a lot of telecommunication problems at this stage.
People who are not able to recharge their phones as they do not have access to shops will now have their phones topped up with $5 by a leading mobile operator, Vodafone.
Vodafone's Corporate Affairs Manager Shalendra Prasad said that many people in the western and northern division are finding it difficult in getting recharge cards which is why they have decided to come on board and top up all Vodafone customers during these hard times.
Meanwhile, Prasad also said that Vodafone will also organize for people to get their phones charged at various places in the west.
And in an effort to ensure people keep in touch during the difficult period, Digicel will be giving away free talk time to their customers from tonight.
This has been confirmed by Digicel Fiji's Chief Executive John Delves who said communication is vital during this time and this is one of their ways of helping people keep in touch.
