The US Embassy said visa sanctions remain in place for all Interim Ministers after the Interim Attorney General, Aiyaz Sayed Khaiyum lodged a complaint to the United Nations Secretary General Ban Ki Moon.

The complaint was made, after his transit visa to attend the UN Funded Conference in Vienna, was rejected by the Embassy.

However, the Embassy reiterates that they will not comment on individual visa cases.

Sayed-Khaiyum earlier said he accepts that whilst the US like any other country has the right to refuse entry or deport non citizens, he said member states of the UN cannot and should not be stopped from fully exercising their rights to participate in UN matters.
