Violent robber sentenced to 2 years in prison
39 year old Makario Anisimai pleaded guilty to assaulting and snatching a handbag from a woman who was sitting in her stationary car. The handbag contained jewellery, and cash to a total value of $700 and Anisimai was arrested a few moments later with the help of bystanders.
High Court Judge Justice Daniel Gounder noted Anisimai has an unimpressive criminal record and most of his convictions are for violent offences.

Taking into consideration the circumstances of the offence, Judge Gounder sentenced him to two years imprisonment at be served concurrently with his current prison term.
