The situation on violence against women is getting worse in the Pacific Region.

These are the words of Fiji Women's Crisis Centre Coordinator Shameema Ali at the Fifth Pacific Regional Meeting on Violence Against Women currently underway at the Naviti Resort.

One of the reports given so far at the meet, is that of six murders reported from January to May in Tonga, five have been domestic-violence related homicides.

Ali said from what they're hearing at the meeting is that violence against women cases across the Pacific is increasing.
