A team of officers from the Ready Action Force in Namaka and officers from Ba police station have been deployed to monitor a situation in the interior of Ba following a brawl between two villages.

Assistant Police Spokesperson Atunaisa Sokomuri had confirmed that villagers of Navala and Nanoko fought over traditional fishing grounds which ended up in a bure being torched and a man being hospitalized.

It is alleged the villagers of Nanoko were fishing in a river yesterday when a group villagers from Navala approached them and chased them saying that the fishing ground belonged to them.

The Nanoko villagers retaliated and attacked them with knives, spears and stones.

Sokomuri said tension is high in the interior of Ba.
