The villagers of Gau, Nairai and Batiki have been told to co-operate with boat owners if they want regular shipping services.

That was the message from Commissioner Eastern Colonel Ifiremi Vasu to the villagers as they raised concern with regards to the irregular shipping services.

The villagers raised their complaint with Prime Minister Commodore Voreqe Bainimarama who toured the Lomaiviti Group last week.

It is understood that the mode of transport for the villagers to travel to Suva to sell Dalo, Yaqona and conduct other business is by fibre glass boat.

The island of Nairai and Gau is serviced once a month by the boat Sandy, while there are no boats servicing the island of Batiki.

Our reporter Selina Navuso who was in Lomaiviti has this report.
