Twenty villagers from Navetau Village attended a one week workshop so that they could help protect their forests which is a Birdlife designated Important Bird Area.

Birdlife's Conservation Programme Assistant, Mere Valu said the participants were trained on demonstration farm created to show land restoration methods and how productivity can be achieved without further clearing the forest.

Valu said unsustainable farming practices can result in the degradation of land and due to this villagers cleared more land, threatening a primary source of their natural resources.
