Officers from the Nadi Police Station are guarding the Digicel transmitter site in Uciwai, Nadi after 12 villagers from Yako entered the site and removed some items yesterday.
Assistant Police Spokesperson Atunaisa Sokomuri had confirmed that villagers, who claimed the land belongs to them, allegedly entered the site and removed batteries from the generator.
This led to service disruptions in Momi, the Mamanucas and other surrounding areas.
According to Sokomuri a meeting between the landowners, Native Land Trust Board and Digicel has been scheduled today.
