The infrequent bus services faced by a remote village in Bua, has seen the people forced to walk for miles to find transport and even fork out money to hire vans.

Turaga ni Koro of Votua Village in Bua, Timoci Vola said though they are on the normal bus route, bad weather and even the bad road condition has seen the bus services cancelled and villagers brave the elements to find transportation.

Vola said they feel sorry for the old people in the village as when they needed immediate health assistance, they have to send young boys to go and find a van and they have to fork out money from their own pockets. Vola adds that it would take hours to find transport.

Meanwhile, bus service providers in the North - Parmod Enterprise manager, Parmod Chand said that they could not do much as bad road conditions has seen them lose thousands of dollars daily just on repairs.

The Roads Ministry had revealed that the poor conditions in the North was due to the logging activities and were looking into the matter.
