The 34 villagers of Nanoko and Navala village charged with riot and unlawful assembly were today told by Magistrate John Rabuku to reconcile and to settle down.

The villagers of Navala and Nanoko fought over traditional fishing grounds on Wednesday which ended up in a bure being torched and a man being hospitalised.

It is alleged the villagers of Nanoko were fishing in a river yesterday when a group of villagers from Navala approached them and chased them saying that the fishing group belonged to them. Nanoko villagers retaliated and attacked them with knives, spears and stones.

The plea has been deferred for the purpose of reconciliation and settlement.

The case has been adjourned to the 17th of this month.
