Villagers in the Tailevu North area today raised their concern that they have been misinformed by members of the People’s Charter consultation team who have visited them earlier regarding some key issues in the draft Charter.

While raising their concern to the NCBBF team led by Adi Finau Tabakaucoro, Ratu Meli Vesikula and Loraine Tevi, Sawakasa district rep Isoa Tamani made it clear that in the Fijian interpretation of the draft Charter, it says that names of schools which have titles based on race will be abolished and when they questioned the Charter team who have visited them twice, the answer was the same, that this will be done through the draft Charter.

But Adi Finau today highlighted to those who were present that there is an error in the translation because in the English translation it said that institutional names that denote racial affiliations will have to be phased out and it does not mean changing school names.

Close to 150 people attended the NCBBF Forum at Tailevu hotel which is the biggest turnout so far in the Central division.

20 students of RKS together with their Principal George Tabua were also at the meeting.
