Navua Police have arrested and charged a 62 year old villager of Serua for allegedly assaulting his 22 year old granddaughter with a spade.
The alleged incident took place after an argument this week.
The victim sustained serious injuries and was taken to the Navua hospital.
He has been charged with one count of Act with Intent to cause grievous bodily harm and will be appearing in court at a later date.
