People, who are visiting a village, whether you are a local or a visitor, will have to comply with the village rules.
That is a standard which will be followed by everyone once the proposed village bylaws are gazetted by the government.
Deputy Permanent Secretary for I-Taukei Affairs Colonel Apakuki Kurusiga said the bylaws in any village is meant to be within the boundaries of the village, so in that aspect, it must be followed.
In stating this, Kurusiga said people should show some respect in the way they dress when they enter a village.
Colonel Kurusiga said their next step is to request government departments and non-government departments to join the I-Taukei Affairs and to discuss further on what has been gathered from the 14 provincial councils.
Some proposals from villages that are not in the draft bylaws includes no smoking in the village during a function, to stop drinking kava at 11pm, rowdy actions by perpetrators must be eliminated and to respect the elders and the women in the village.
