The Village 6 and Village 4 cinemas lose close to $3 million each year due to piracy.
Chief Executive Officer, Div Damodar said the loss is in terms of patrons cancelling their bookings and then cancelling some of the sessions due to the low turnout.
He said they have raised numerous complaints with police about the sale of pirated DVDs and CDs however very little has been done and people continue to sell pirated DVDs.
Meanwhile, Assistant Police Spokesperson, Sergeant Suliano Tevita said they are monitoring some DVD outlets who are selling pirated copies and raids will be carried out soon.
