As the Public Employee's Union and Viti National Union of Taukei Workers decided to call off their strike, the interim Public Service Minister Poseci Bune said it is a victory for the interim government.
Speaking soon after the cabinet meeting this afternoon, Bune stressed that it was an unconditional decision taken by the Union Executives.
Bune also stresses that the Unions must understand that these are not normal times as he defended the interim government's decision not to refer the trade disputes to compulsory arbitration.
The Interim Minister also said that the Unions are free to take legal action if they want to do so after indications from FICTU that they are exploring their options.
