The Kulawai Green Fiji Volleyball team returned home today after putting up a gallant performance in winning the Oceania Volleyball competition in New Caledonia on Saturday.

The Torika Nuku side beat the hosts in straight sets of 27-25, 25-18 and 25-19.

Team manager Laisa Vulakoro said the win marked a grand victory and the first ever for any national indoor women's team in the history of the sport since the inception of volleyball in Fiji in 1970.

Vulakoro said the highlight of their performance was in the semifinal where they overcame a tough New Zealand outfit 3 sets to 1.

The Kulawai women's volley ball team will now prepare for the Asian Games next year which is the qualifying games for the 2012 Olympic Games.
