Victim refuses apology
This is in relation to the early morning robbery in Nakasi on the 17th of April where two men, Wallace Wise and Ratu Meli Bainivalu are alleged to have been part of a group that terrorized the family at 2am and walked away with over $600 in cash and assorted items.
High Court Judge, Justice Daniel Goundar had told the State lawyers to produce Ram in Court today after Bainivalu informed him last Friday that he was remorseful and wanted to apologise to him in person.
Today Bainivalu in his apology to Ram, said that what he had done was wrong and he regretted taking part in the crime. Bainivalu also added that he was ready to pay back the $200 cash and $440 worth of assorted items that was stolen from Ram's house that morning.
However, Ram told Bainivalu that he would not accept his apology as his family had been through a lot since the robbery that morning and that he personally was injured during the attack and had to be hospitalized.
Bainivalu is expected to be sentenced tomorrow morning while his accomplice Wallace Wise will be sentenced on the 8th of next month.
