The relevant Ministries are currently investigating the viability of a proposed mining site in Bua before giving the green light to a China Based company to start exploration works.
Director Environment Epeli Nasome confirmed that they intend to issue a mining license to a Chinese company for bauxite, which is a naturally occurring mineral.
He said the impact on the communities and the environment must be considered first.
