The venue for this week’s Farebrother Sullivan Cup challenge is yet to be confirmed as the Nadroga Rugby Union is still trying to finalize a venue.

This comes after the first challenge was staged at Prince Charles Park in Nadi after Nadroga could not meet the cost at Lawaqa Park.

Nadroga rugby spokesperson Tiko Matawalu said they have sent a proposal to the Fiji Sports Council in relation to a few issues and are awaiting their reply.

Matawalu confirmed that Nadi Town Council only charges for the hiring of the ground and not based on gate takings.

The Fiji Sports Council which owns Lawaqa Park said the town council’s major source of income is through rates and hiring of grounds is a secondary issue to them.

However, for the Sports Council, their main source of income is through gate takings.

The Sports Council takes 25% of the gate takings.

Fiji Rugby Union has refused to comment.

We will have more on this later this afternoon.
