Deputy Commissioner of FICAC George Langman has labeled the comments made by Fiji Labour Party Assistant General Secretary Lekh Ram Vayeshnoi as a political twist.
Vayshnoi had expressed outrage that FICAC appears to be targeting only one town council and has not taken any action on evidence of corrupt practises against current and former mayors of other town councils. He said he had handed files of many councils to FICAC when he was Minister for Local Government however nothing has been done so far.
However Langman has refuted Vayeshnoi's claims that FICAC has been biased and selective in investigating the Nasinu Town council over the others.
He added that cases investigated have been selected on the basis of strength of information provided and the resources available. He said investigations into the Nasinu Town Council had commenced six weeks ago as FICAC had other investigations in place.
