As the new mining company Westech Limited is expected to reopen the Vatukoula Gold Mines later today, the company is also keen to have talks with foreign financiers who are interested in investing in the mines.
The interim government had talks with a Canadian and UK company in running the mines before signing a deal with Westech last week.
Westech Director Brian Wesson said they are ready to have talks to have a joint venture with any company though they have their own financiers.
Meanwhile, Interim Lands and Mineral Resources Minister Tevita Vuibau said it’s up to Westech to have talks with these mining companies.
Meanwhile, Wesson confirms the interim government will be paid back over $2.6 million this week which they spent so far in maintaining the mines.
Miners and their families in Tavua and Vatukoula have been waiting for the mines to reopen from December 5th last year when Emperor Gold Mines closed the mines.
