The children of mine workers of Vatukoula need food.
Head teacher of Vatukoula Convent School Ledua Niubalavu said 97% of the students in his school are children of those Vatukoula Gold Mine workers who are unemployed since the closure of the mine last year.
The parents are facing difficulties in adapting to a life where they have no source of income. Niubalavu said they are not able to cater for their children's needs and people should assist the needy families.
He also added that two staff of Save the Children Fund have visited their school, and will be looking for donors who could assist the unfortunate students with their lunch and bus fares.
