Vatukoula Assistance Timely
Forty-three year old Shiu Pratap of Vatukoula was a shaft clerk in the Vatukoula Gold Mines and is now unemployed.
Pratap told Fijivillage that education assistance provided by Save the Children Fiji was a timely one as this will help his thirteen year old daughter complete her primary education at Vatukoula Arya Samaj Primary School.
Pratap said he has three other children who are dependent on him and he tries to earn something to put food on the table as he does not have much land to do farming.
Meanwhile, Save the Children Fiji yesterday distributed cheques worth $52,700 to seven schools for their Vatukoula Assistance Program. Money given is for five week bus fares and lunch expenses. The schools assisted will provide two vouchers each day to the students which will be given to the drivers for bus fares.
