England Sevens coach Ben Ryan has called up the big guns for the climax of the IRB Sevens World Series with Ollie Phillips and Tom Varndell returning to the squad as they seek to defend the England 7s title at Twickenham next weekend.

Phillips, the IRB Sevens Player of the Year 2009 who now plays club rugby for leading French side Stade Francais, will make his first appearance of the Series as England seek to win a first title since their dramatic defeat of New Zealand at Twickenham 12 months ago.

Micky Young, the scorer of the winning try for England in sudden death extra time in that final, has also been included in the 15 man squad as well as Rob Vickerman and Varndell who are all making their first appearances this season.

Varndell, a Commonwealth Games silver medallist in 2006, helped England reach the quarter finals of the Rugby World Cup Sevens 2009 in Dubai, ending the tournament as the joint top try scorer with seven, but hasn't played since Hong Kong last year.

Ryan for the last two legs has left out Fiji born Joshua Druininui and Isoa Damudamu.

Both were not considered because of injuries.

England are currently fifth in the overall standings, having not won a Cup title all season.

With just two legs of the 2009/10 Series remaining, the hosts need to pick up maximum points at the London Sevens if they are to overtake Australia and close the 20 point gap between them and third placed Fiji in the standings.
