Despite the effort by the Water Authority of Fiji to provide people in the drought stricken areas with the basic necessity of life- clean drinking water, some have shown total disregard for the efforts that have been put in place.

This comes after water tanks put in place by the Water Authority of Fiji have been damaged and were pierced with iron rods or punctured.

The Authority has called on vandals to refrain from damaging water tanks placed in strategic locations.

Team leader corporate communications Michelle Tevita Singh said they spent around $118,900 to purchase 5,000 and 10,000 liter tanks and now they will be repairing the damaged tanks which will increase their cost.

Despite this the Water Authority has expressed its commitment in continuing to supply water to non metered areas during the drought period.

In a release, Authority Chief Executive Tony Fullman said they have spent $300,000 and will continue to foot mounting costs in its commitment to fulfill its corporate social responsibility.
