Fiji born Virimi Vakatawa will create history if he is selected in the France rugby team’s starting line up to play his fellow countrymen in the Europe tour next week.
This comes after Vakatawa was named in the French extended squad to prepare for the autumn test series.
If given the nod, Vakatawa will become the first Fijian to represent France in the 7s and 15s codes.
Speaking to Fijivillage from France, the 22-year-old said he will dedicate his selection to his family in Naluwai, Naitasiri, if he makes the team.
The former Nasinu Secondary School student is confident of making the final cut and he is looking forward to fronting up against the Vodafone Flying Fijians.
Vakatawa currently plays as a wing for Racing Metro in France and with speed to burn and the ability to break through tackles, he is expected to add flair to the French team.
The Vodafone Flying Fijians will play France next Sunday followed by games against Wales on the 16th and USA on the 22nd.
