Apolonia Vaivai has won a gold medal in the Women’s 69kg weight category at the Commonwealth Weightlifting Championships currently under way in Pune, India.
She lifted 88kg in the Snatch and 104kg in the Clean & Jerk for a total of 192kgs.
This was her first gold medal at this level, having previously won a bronze medal at the Commonwealth Games in Glasgow in 2014.
Manueli Tulo finished at the 5th place in a tightly contested Men’s 56kg weight division.
He lifted 103kgs in the Snatch and 133kgs in the Clean & Jerk for a total of 236kgs.
