Our gold medalist at the Paralympic Games, Iliesa Delana will receive VIP treatment from London to Fiji.

This has been confirmed by Digicel Fiji, Head of Marketing Sherly Singh who added they are planning on rewarding Delana which will be finalized later this week.


When asked if Digicel will help Delana in getting a bionic leg in future as he wants to take part in track events, Singh said this is something that they will discuss with him.


Meanwhile, Iliesa Delana’s gold medal win at the 2012 Paralympics will be celebrated at Albert Park this Thursday.

The Government is currently finalizing the logistics of a parade through the streets of Suva from the Flea Market to Albert Park.

At the parade, Delana will be accompanied by the members of the Fiji Sporting fraternity, schools from around Suva area including children from the physically challenged schools, who will be led by the Fiji Police and National Youth Band.

Permanent Secretary for Information, Sharon Smith-Johns said there will be a big celebration to honour Delana and his family at Albert Park and this is a great opportunity for all to get together and welcome our sporting hero.

Delana won gold in the high jump F42 category for single leg amputees with a jump of 1.74 meters setting a new Oceania record in the process and becoming the first athlete ever in Fiji and the Pacific to win a gold medal in the Paralympic games.

Delana will arrive at the Nadi International Airport on Wednesday at 12.20pm.
