An Economist hopes the interim government will not increase Value Added Tax when it announces the 2008 National Budget next month.
As the interim government prepares to announce the 2008 budget next month, USP's Dr.Mahendra Reddy has suggested that they should instead focus on increasing taxes on luxury goods in order to increase income.
Dr. Reddy believes the interim government will mostly focuss on improving the economic situation in the country by creating job opportunities, winning confidence of overseas investors, national security and improving the agriculture sector.
The 2008 National Budget is expected to be announced on the 23rd of next month.
