Police and the Fiji Islands Revenue and Customs Authority have expanded their investigations into a VAT return racket through the use of bogus companies, to the Western Division.
Speaking to Village news FIRCA CEO Jitoko Tikolevu confirms they are working on various information to track down those believed to be involved in the tax scam.
Tikolevu adds they are tightening up certain areas within FIRCA to try and stop such scams from occurring in the future.
Director Economic Crime, SSP Arjun Singh confirmed that so far three people have been charged in relation to the alleged offence including some staff of FIRCA who have been charged with fraud related offences and have been bailed to appear in court later this month.
