DISMAC has today confirmed that urgent medical relief supplies have been taken to the Northern and the Eastern Divisions.

These include a 15kg cargo of ORS, a medication used to treat diarrhoea, and antibiotics have been loaded on the Pacific Sun to be taken to the Savusavu and Labasa Hospitals.

Medical supplies will also be taken to Wainikoro health centre in Labasa which is expected to be delivered tomorrow.

The Government vessels Iloilovatu and the Raiyawa also left for the Lau Group in the weekend, taking with them supplies and a RCW 50 vaccine fridge for Ono-I-Lau.

DISMAC has also confirmed that the naval vessel Levuka will transport urgent medical supplies and diesel fuel for the generators for the health centre in Ono-I-Lau in Lakeba.

UNICEF is also assisting in lending supplies such as water containers, Protex Soap, tents, purification tablets, flyers and education and health kits for schools and health centres.
