The Forestry Ministry is taking urgent steps to minimise harvesting of trees in the highlands to ensure risk of flash flooding in creeks and rivers is minimised.
Interim Forestry Minister, Joketani Cokanasiga told Village News that landslides occur due to harvesting of trees for agriculture development.
He added if their plans are successful, risk of flash floods will be thing of the past.
