Upset mark Day 2 opener

In the first event, the senior girls 3000 metres which was marked by an upset saw SPG long distance sensation and Adi Cakobau School athlete, Akesa Drotini settle for Bronze medal after Sereima Liku and Mereseini Naidau both of Nadarivatu walked away with the Gold and Silver Medals respectively. Sereima Liku from Nadarivatu who created the upset said it was tough for her.
In the most anticipated event of Day one, Suva Grammar school sprinter Mataisi Savou won the senior boys blue ribbon event at the TFL Stadium last night. Savou clocked 10.78 to finish ahead of team mate Sireli Degei who clocked 10.79 sec.
Meanwhile, Suva Grammar created an upset after taking out the Gold Medals in the girls senior 100 mtrs and beating Adi Cakobau School sprint Queen, Sere Tuinalase.
Looking at the medal tally in the Boys division :
Defending Boys champions, Suva Grammar Secondary School have regained their momentum after they bagged 7 Gold and 2 Silver at the end of day 1. The late Gold medal came from Mataiasi Savou after he pipped school mate, Sireli Degei to claim Gold in the Senior Boys 100mtrs.
In Second place comes Ratu Kadavulevu from Lodoni who have a total of 2 Gold, 4 Silver and 2 Bronze. And Lautoka School, Saint Thomas High with is in third place with 2 Gold and 2 Silver.
In the Girls Division:
The girls from Sawani, Adi Cakobau School leads after they managed to bag 6 Gold, 4 Silver and 3 Bronze after a day of competition.
In 2nd place is Suva Grammar School who have 3 Gold, 1 Silver and 2 Bronze and after an upset in the last minute, Nadarivatu takes third spot with 2 Gold medal and 1 Silver.
