The Water Authority of Fiji is in the process of upgrading and buying new equipment to improve their services.

Spokesperson Maika Nagalu said they are trying to ensure that water cuts is no longer an issue for people.

To coordinate this he said they are buying new generators and pumps, upgrading pipes and treatment plants, carrying out verification of water meters, cleaning water intakes and improving their leak detection units.

Nagalu said there are other areas of services where their funding goes toward such as the rural water scheme (projects), including the rural meter connections and daily operations.

Government has allocated $86M to the authority for this year.
