Teachers who fail to register by the end of August in the Fiji Teachers Registration Board could face a fine of up to $20,000.
The Head of the Board, Rahemat Ali said more than 10,000 teachers will have to get registered and pay an annual fee of $40.
However he said teachers to fail to register will have to face the consequences.
Ali said teachers in the Maritime divisions and in the remote rural schools will find the time schedule a challenge and the Board will be flexible with teachers in the regions.
Ali said there are two forms which the teachers will be required to fill. The first form is for provisional registration and for all existing teachers while the second form called "Limited Authority to Teach form", is for the teachers who have the expertise but are not qualified to teach.
