Various unions in Fiji are now desperately waiting for a decision to be reached in relation to their demands of full restoration of the 5% pay cut and the cost of living adjustment payment that has been outstanding from 2006.

The Confederation of Public Sector Unions, which consists of the Fiji Teachers Union and the Fiji Public Service Association, is demanding 8% COLA for 2006 and 2007 with the full backdating of the five percent pay cut.

Their matter is before the arbitration set by the Labour Ministry and a hearing is expected this Friday.

The other set of unions which includes the Fijian Teachers Association, Public Employees Union and the Viti National Union of Taukei Workers are demanding 10% COLA and the backdating of the 5% pay cut.

FTA General Secretary Maika Namudu confirmed they are now waiting for a decision on the matter as the Employment Relations Tribunal has already finished hearing the matter.
