Trade and Public Sector Unions are soon expected to inform their members of the details in the new labour laws which come into effect today through the Employment Relations promulgation.
Fiji Islands Council of Trade Unions President Maika Namudu said irrespective of the stance taken against the interim government and the ER promulgation, the unions must now cooperate.
Fiji Nursing Association General Secretary Kuini Lutua said the Labour Ministry needs to provide training on how the unions can utilize the various provisions in the ER promulgation.
Meanwhile, Interim Minister for Labour Lekh Ram Vayeshnoi reiterated that the ER promulgation will not stop trade unions from their right to strike but will only give more avenues to avoid such confrontations.
