The Confederation of Public Sector Unions is calling on the interim Government to think twice before trying to implement any new policies without consulting the unions.
Following the ruling by the High Court yesterday which quashed the interim cabinet's decision to reduce the retirement age in the civil service, FPSA Industrial Advisor Nirbhay Singh said it would not have come to this if the interim government had negotiated in good faith.
Meanwhile, the Interim Government is expected to appeal the decision handed down yesterday by High Court Judge Justice Filimoni Jitoko.
The Attorney General's Chambers confirms that they are now studying the ruling and will make a statement on the matter once it receives instructions from the PSC.
Yesterday, Justice Jitoko ruled that the interim government was in breach of the constitution in reducing the retirement age in the civil service from 60 to 55 years.
The Judge declared that the decision is unlawful and therefore null and void and the Order to reduce the retirement age is quashed.
