Demands from trade and public sector unions for a cost of living adjustment payment for 2008 are now pouring into the Public Service Commission Office and figures as high as 14% COLA is expected to be submitted.
Permanent Secretary for Public Service Taina Tagicakibau confirmed to Fijivillage news that they have received several applications and more are expected in the weeks ahead.
Tagicakibau also confirms that once talks are initiated with the Unions on their COLA demands, proposals to revert to a merit based contract for all civil servants will be put on the table.
