Unions Criticize PSC
This was raised by affiliates of the Fiji Trade Union Congress (FTUC) who said that the PSC have not been dealing in good faith with the unions especially when it came to issues dealing with civil servants.
Speaking to Fijivillage, General Secretary Felix Anthony said that they will be approaching government to ensure that the resolutions they come up with are considered by the interim administration.
Following their symposium yesterday on the Employment Relations Bill, Anthony added that their affiliates were informed on the finer details of the Bill and will also be looking at the pregnancy protection clause in the Bill to ensure that the restrictions are taken away in an effort to see that their women members are empowered in the workforce under their two year strategy plan.
However, chairman for the Commission Rishi Ram said that at times the unions should look at matters from a broad perspective and not only from their view as whatever policies put in place by the interim administration is for the good of everyone and added that everyone in the country is affected and not only the civil servants.
