Viti Taukei Workers Union General Secretary Taniela Tabu will now be lodging a complaint with the police for alleged threats made against him by a senior military officer, when he was taken up to the Queen Elizabeth Barracks yesterday.
Tabu added that a complaint will not be lodged with the Fiji Human Rights Commission.
Tabu was allegedly mistreated at the Queen Elizabeth Barracks yesterday before being handed over to police for statements he had uttered earlier this week discrediting the interim government. He alleges that he was stripped to his underwear and made to run around the QEB ground before meeting with senior military officials.
Military spokesperson Major Neumi Leweni has disputed Tabu's claims saying that it is a very serious allegation to say that he had received death threats from a senior military officer when he was taken to QEB yesterday.
