A Union has strongly hit out at the Fiji Labour Party's President's comments that the civil service has become lazy and non-responsive to the demands of the nation.
Fiji Teachers Union General Secretary Agin Deo Singh said these comments that come from Jokapeci Koroi are shocking because the Fiji Labour Party has always supported civil servants.
Singh added Labour Party leader Mahendra Chaudhry has also changed he's stance on the civil service which is also sad news for the Unions.
Fiji Labour Party President Jokapeci Koroi in her presidential speech at the FLP's Delegates Conference stressed that the civil service needs a shakeup adding she agreed with the interim government in downsizing the civil service.
Koroi added the civil service is bloated and incompetent and targets must be set to reducing the civil service progressively so that it stands at 70% of its present level in 3 years.
